222C Pyramid Bookmakers (Fillies) H'cap

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Woodsophiesmile, trained by A.J.Martin, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Stewards received a request from A.J.Martin, trainer of Woodsophiesmile, to substitute the nominated rider S.A. Shortall, with Gary Paul Halpin, due to him being 3lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from S.A. Shortall who informed the Stewards that he had confirmed his availability to ride Woodsophiesmile at the correct weight of 9st 7lbs after the deduction of his claim but for no known reason he was unable to lose sufficient weight to honour the commitment. He added that he had recently ridden at 2lbs lighter and at the today's weight so he did not see any difficulty in accepting the ride. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards allowed the trainers request for the substitution of rider. Furthermore they were satisfied that S.A. Shortall was in breach of Rule 198(vii) and consequently fined him €150.

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the straight involving Ri An Domhnaigh, ridden by K.J. Manning, unplaced and Pingit (GB), ridden by L.F. Roche, unplaced, where it appeared that Pingit (GB) received a check when racing on the rails. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that K.J. Manning had caused the incident by riding carelessly and was in breach of Rule 214 for which he was suspended for 2 racedays having taken his previous record into consideration.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference between the final hurdle and the winning post involving Waaheb (USA), ridden by M.P. Walsh, placed second and Clara Mc Cloud, ridden by D.J. Condon, placed first. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the winner had caused interference to the second placed animal but had not improved her placing in doing so and consequently made no alteration to the Judges' placings and took no further action.
