A. Ring, rider of Thornhill Flyer, trained by P.J. Rothwell, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran away going to the start, ran free early on in the race, hung badly to the right from the end of the back straight and gurgled in the straight.

The Stewards interviewed A. Ring, rider of Thornhill Flyer, in relation to his failure to comply with the provisions of rule 213 whereby reports shall be made in the first instance to the relevant Officials' of anything which might have affected the running of their horse in a race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he believed that the relevant rule applied to riders who had pulled up in a race. He added that in the past he had always cooperated with Stipendiary Stewards' when questioned on the performance of his mounts. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards cautioned A. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
