Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that E.J. McNamara was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency and R10(3)(f) by using his whip with excessive force. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended E.J. McNamara for 3 racedays.

The Stewards informed David Marnane, trainer that Cracking Name, would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again.

Adrian McGuinness accompanied D. McMonagle at this enquiry

R.P. Cleary, rider of Lady Alcazar trained by Thomas Cleary, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount refused to race when the stalls opened.

The Stewards requested a report from Adrian McGuinness, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Highly Approved, placed first, as compared with its two most recent runs. Adrian McGuinness reported that this filly has been a very inconsistent performer in the past. He felt that her run at Leopardstown on the 11th July when ridden by C.T. Keane was not helped by being drawn wide which meant that the filly had to be dropped in behind the runners and when asked to come with one run she failed to do so. He felt that her most recent run at Leopardstown on the 23rd July was most disappointing and no abnormality was found. Today for a change a visor was fitted and the rider was instructed to jump out smart and let her roll along. In his opinion this tactic worked for today but he reiterated that she is very inconsistent. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

186F1 Leopardstown H'cap

The Stewards enquired into possible interference inside the final 200 yards involving Conor Hogan, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed third, Happy Company, ridden by D.E. Sheehy, placed first and Blackstone Cliff, ridden by R.P. Cleary, placed fourth, where it appeared that Blackstone Cliff ran short of room when racing between the other two named horses. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings. They did, however, consider that the interference was caused by D. E. Sheehy riding carelessly this being a breach of Rule 214. Having taken his previous record into consideration and allowing for some mitigating circumstances, the Stewards cautioned D.E. Sheehy on this occasion.

S.M. Crosse, rider of Chico One trained by Luke Comer, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount reared up when leaving the starting stalls and lost considerable ground.

186F2 Leopardstown H'cap

The Stewards enquired into possible interference near the finish involving Spelga (GB), ridden by R.P. Whelan, placed third, Sweet Affection, ridden by G.M. Ryan, placed first and Thefaithfulindian, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed fifth, where it appeared that Thefaithfulindian ran short of room and checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In reaching their decision they were satisfied that any interference caused was accidental in nature and took no further action.

S.M. Crosse, rider of Full Moon Magic trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was badly checked two furlongs out and got no run.
