The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

S.J. Gray replaced Mr H.D. Dunne on Loch Dara, trained by Leonard Whitmore (Race 6)(Unwell)
R.C. Colgan rode More Madness (reserve) , trained by Terence O'Brien (Race 6)

343C Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet S'chase

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Ballycasey, trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.

R. Walsh, rider of Ballycasey, trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount could not go with the pace in this race.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Uxizandre (FR), trained by Alan King (in GB), at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.

The Stewards requested a report from W.P. Mullins, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Twinlight (FR), placed first, as compared with its recent form. W.P. Mullins reported that Twinlight was ridden prominently at Cork and disappointed, consequently it was decided to change the riding tactics today and to allow the gelding to race at his own pace which allowed him to enjoy himself. He felt that the fast early pace today allowed his charge to gallop into the race and pass the early pacesetters. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

P. Townend, rider of Mckinley (GB) trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up having gone lame.

The Stewards interviewed Mr R.J. Kiely, rider of Cappacon, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr R.J. Kiely was in breach of R10(3)(f) by using his whip with excessive force and frequency. Consequently he was suspended for 6 racedays.

The Stewards interviewed Ms N. Carberry, rider of Russian Bill, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Ms N. Carberry was in breach of R10(3)(f) by using her whip with excessive frequency and consequently suspended her for 3 racedays.
