The Stewards considered a request from G J Phillips, rider of Conan's Rock (GB) to ride at four pounds overweight in this race. Evidence was heard from G J Phillips and J T Gorman, trainer. G J Phillips stated that while he could do his allotted weight, he was prevented from doing so due to his Minimum Riding Weight being set at 8st 6lbs. J T Gorman stated that as there were very few apprentices who could do or were allowed to ride at the weight of 8st 4lbs in this race, his options were limited. Also the race was restricted to apprentices who hadn't lost their 5lb claim. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards, allowed Conan's Rock (GB) to run and G J Phillips to ride with the overweight as they considered that there were exceptional circumstances.

The Stewards considered a request from Megan Carberry, rider of Enigma Code (UAE) to ride at six pounds overweight in this race. Evidence was heard from Megan Carberry and Damien Joseph English, trainer. Megan Carberry stated that she is returning from injury and her weight has not come off as quickly as she had expected. She had hoped to ride at two pounds overweight but in the end it was significantly more than that. Damien Joseph English stated that he had few options of apprentices riding at this weight and as Megan Carberry had ridden the horse before he was agreeable to her riding even if overweight. Having considered the evidence and following a submission from the trainer, the Stewards, allowed Enigma Code (UAE) to run and Megan Carberry to ride, however they were of the opinion Megan Carberry was in breach of Rule 195(i) and therefore ordered her to forfeit her riding fee and suspended her for three race days.

The Stewards requested a report from D. K. Weld, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Show Court, placed second, as compared with its recent form.
