Protecting the Integrity & Reputation of Irish Horseracing

Kilbeggan 18th July 2014

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

R. Loughran replaced B.J. Geraghty on Toostrong (FR), trained by Gordon Elliott (Race 6)(Injured)

184A Tom McCormack Memorial Cup (M) Mdn H'dle

The Stewards requested a report from D. T. Hughes, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Rodger Roo, winner, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that he got the filly last year, but had to send her home for a break because she trained up light. This year, the filly was still weak, but has been strengthening up all the time, and he got her to stage today where he could have her ridden more forcefully than in her previous runs, up with the pace throughout, and this may have brought about any improvement in form.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.

184B Coola M'dn H'dle

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Don't Budge Me, trained by B. R. Hamilton, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be Post Race Normal.

184C Destination Athlone H'cap H'dle

The Stewards enquired into possible interference after the last hurdle involving The Black Russian, ridden by B.J. Geraghty, winner and Vinniespride, ridden by D.R. Fox, placed third, where it appeared Vinniespride suffered interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the judges' placings and took no further action.

D.J. Condon, rider of Castletown Bridge, trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount cut out quickly and was pulled up.

184D Michael Moore Car Sales H'cap H'dle

B.R. Dalton, rider of Lisduane trained by Patrick Neville, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly and pulled up.

184F Midlands National H'cap S'chase

D.N. Russell, rider of Shrapnel trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount's saddle slipped and then pulled up.
