The Stewards enquired into an incident on the bottom bend about three and a half furlongs from the finish involving Harry Trotter, ridden by P.J. Smullen, placed fifth, Blue Bullet, ridden by J.F. Egan, placed second and Inishmot Duchess, ridden by B.A. Curtis, unplaced, where it appeared that Harry Trotter was tight for room on the rails and had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was caused by general bunching and took no further action.

The Stewards interviewed J.C. Tobin, rider of Moonbi Creek, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that J.C. Tobin was in breach of R10(3)(f) by using his whip with excessive frequency and R10(4) by failing to give his mount time to respond. The Stewards suspended J.C. Tobin for 1 raceday having taken his previous good record into consideration.

W.J. Lee, rider of Fleet Captain (GB), trained by Jane M. Foley, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was unable to get a clear run in the straight which possibly cost him a closer placing .
