The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

E.J. O'Connell rode Kennell Bridge (reserve) , trained by Conor O'Dwyer (Race 1)
Mr N.P. McParlan replaced Mr D.J. O'Leary on Tomas Rua, trained by John Joseph Hanlon (Race 6)(Injured)

098A Bet With The Tote M'dn H'dle

P. Carberry, rider of Bronco Bill trained by Noel Meade, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount cocked his jaw and ran out down the back straight.

098B Daily Mirror H'cap H'dle

The Stewards fined Thomas J.Farrell, €350 for failing to lodge a passport in respect of winning horse Carpet Elegance, in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90(vi). Written assurance was given by or on behalf of the Trainer that the Passport would be forwarded to Horse Racing Ireland within the next 3 working days for verification with the markings and microchip number taken by the Turf Club Veterinary Officer.

The Stewards received a report from Mr Derek Cullen, Turf Club Starter, stating that after he released the tape at the start of this race, Howwoulduno, trained by Liam Lennon, and ridden by B.T O'Connell, ducked left and refused to race, a fact that was confirmed to the Stewards Secretaries by the rider concerned.
Having considered the reports, the Stewards were satisfied a fair start had been effected and took no further action.

098F Newmac Contracts Ltd. Hunters S'chase

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Nearest The Pin, trained by John Joseph Hanlon, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be Post Race Normal. Samples were taken for analysis.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Need To Know, trained by John Paul Brennan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be clinically abnormal. Samples were taken for analysis.

The Stewards interviewed Mr J.C. Barry, rider of Mattara, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion Mr J.C. Barry was in breach of Regulation 10 3 (f) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency and Regulation 10 4 in that he failed to give his mount time to respond and having taken his good record into account, they suspended him for 1 raceday.

098G Down Royal INH Flat Race

John W. Nicholson, trainer of Sun Harbour (GB), reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Monday 8th September that his charge has had a wind operation since this run.
