The Stewards enquired into two separate incidents in the latter stages of this race, the first incident involving Back Off Mate, ridden by G. Malone, placed first and Mighty Whitey, ridden by M.P. Butler, placed second. The second incident closer to the finish involving Mighty Whitey and Theoystercatcher, ridden by P.T. Enright, placed third. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings and took no further action.

The Stewards received a report from P.L. Malone , Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that S.A. Shortall , nominated rider of Theoystercatcher , would have to carry 3lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he had recently returned from a pelvic injury and had expected to carry the nominated 2lbs overweight but was unable to do so. Evidence was also heard from P.A. Fahy, trainer of Theoystercatcher. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that S.A. Shortall was in breach of Rule 195(i) and using their powers under Rule 198 they did not allow him to ride at 3lbs overweight. The Stewards fined S.A. Shortall €150 for this breach of rule.

The Stewards interviewed G. Malone, rider of Back Off Mate, concerning his use of the whip in latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that G. Malone was in breach of R10(3)(a) by hitting his mount in front of the saddle while the whip was held in the forehand position and R10(3)(f) by using his whip with excessive frequency. The Stewards cautioned G. Malone having taken his clean previous record into consideration.

The Stewards interviewed M.P. Butler, rider of Mighty Whitey, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that M.P. Butler was in breach of R10(4) by failing to give his mount time to respond to the whip and consequently cautioned him having taken his clean recent record into consideration.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Unoccupied (GB), ridden by P.T. Enright, placed first and Hidden Horizons, ridden by P. Carberry, placed second, where it appeared Hidden Horizons was tightened when challenging on the nearside rail. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Unoccupied (GB) in causing interference had improved his placing in relation to Hidden Horizons and ordered that the placings be reversed with the result now to read: First; Hidden Horizons, Second; Unoccupied (GB). Furthermore the Stewards were of the opinion that P.T. Enright had ridden carelessly and therefore suspended him for 2 racedays.
