Curragh 22nd September 2016

369A Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) M'dn

The Stewards interviewed Adrian O'Shea, rider of Ease The Jets (GB), unplaced, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion Adrian O'Shea was in breach of Regulation 10 3(b) in that he had used his whip when his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone, and having taken his record into account, they suspended him for 1 raceday.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Ease The Jets (GB) trained by Mrs. A.M. O'Shea was found to be post race normal.

369B RACE & Irish School of Farriery H'cap

The Stewards received a report from Hugh Hynes, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that Chloe Cahalan, rider of Maluhia, presented to weigh out at 2lbs overweight despite failing at declaration time to declare the potential overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned and from Kieran P. Cotter, trainer. Chloe Cahalan accepted she did not inform the trainer that she may be unable to carry the correct weight.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards gave permission for Chloe Cahalan to carry 2lb overweight but were of the opinion that she was in breach of Rule 198 (vii) in that she failed to declare she may be up to 2lbs overweight, and in this instance, cautioned her concerning her responsibilities in this regard.
