The Stewards enquired into an incident about one furlong from the finish involving Stingy Jack, ridden by D.E. Hogan, a faller in running and Committal (GB), ridden by T.P. Madden, unplaced, where it appeared Stingy Jack was crossed by Committal (GB). Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that T.P. Madden had caused the fall of Stingy Jack by riding carelessly and consequently suspended him for 5 racedays having taken his previous record into consideration. Des Cummins, Authorised representative of Kevin Prendergast, Master of D.E. Hogan, Apprentice Jockey attended this enquiry with D.E. Hogan and Augustine Leahy, trainer of Committal (GB) attended this enquiry with T.P. Madden.

The Stewards requested a report from D. K. Weld, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Alkasser, placed first, as compared with its previous run. Kris Weld, Authorised representative of D.K. Weld reported that their charge had disappointed at the Curragh on his only run when racing on soft to heavy ground over one mile having travelled well throughout much of the race. Today the animal reverted back to six furlongs which appeared to be of great benefit. He also suggested that the colt had a speed pedigree. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
